What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is an injectable biostimulant made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a bio-compatible, biodegradable synthetic compound used medically for decades (like in dissolvable stitches). Unlike traditional fillers that add volume instantly, Sculptra works gradually by stimulating your body’s own collagen production, restoring volume and improving skin texture over time.

  • Sculptra doesn’t add instant volume like traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. Instead, it works by stimulating your body to produce more collagen over time. The result is a gradual, natural-looking improvement in skin firmness, texture, and volume that lasts longer — up to 2 years.

  • Sculptra is ideal for areas that have lost volume or firmness with age — like the cheeks, temples, jawline, and smile lines. It also improves overall skin texture and elasticity, making it great for anyone wanting a subtle, full-face refresh.

THE PLACEMENT

Sculptra is designed for deep, structural support, so it’s injected into areas where collagen loss has caused volume loss or sagging over time.

Before receiving Sculptra at Flight Aesthetics + Salon in Oxford, Mississippi, you’ll have a comprehensive consultation with Robyn, our owner and skilled nurse practitioner.

During this consultation, we will discuss your aesthetic goals, medical history and any concerns you may have. It’s important to inform us of any medications or supplements you’re taking, as certain substances can increase the risk of bruising.

There’s no major prep required, but we may recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications or supplements (like ibuprofen or fish oil) a few days before to reduce the chance of bruising.

The treatment itself takes about 30–45 minutes, and most people find it very tolerable with minimal discomfort.

After your Sculptra treatment, you can expect minimal downtime, allowing you to resume most of your daily activities immediately.

You might notice some mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising right after your injections — this is normal and usually fades within a few days.

Unlike traditional fillers, results aren’t instant. Sculptra works gradually as your body builds new collagen over several weeks. To help the product settle properly and promote even results, you’ll follow the 5-5-5 rule: massage the treated areas 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. As collagen develops, you’ll start to see smoother, firmer skin with a refreshed, natural look that can last up to two years.
