Dermal Fillers

At Flight Aesthetics + Salon, we believe that beauty should feel effortless—never overdone. Our conservative approach to dermal fillers is all about restoring volume, smoothing lines, and enhancing your features with results that look refreshed, not “filled.” Whether you want to restore lost collagen, subtly plump your lips, or refine your profile, we tailor each treatment to your natural beauty.

Here's the Scoop

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made of substances that naturally occur in the body, like hyaluronic acid (HA), which helps keep skin hydrated and plump. They are used to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours in a natural, subtle way. Not all fillers are the same, and choosing the right one depends on your unique anatomy, goals, and the area being treated. That’s why we create a customized treatment plan to ensure the best results for you.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers

The most popular option, HA fillers like Restylane® attract water to the skin, providing immediate, soft, and natural-looking volume. They are reversible and typically last 6-18 months.

Collagen-Stimulating Fillers

Fillers like Sculptra® work by stimulating your body’s own collagen production, gradually improving volume and skin texture over time. These results develop over a few months and can last 1-2 years.

Structural Fillers for Contour & Lift

Some fillers are firmer and used to enhance bone structure, like in the cheeks or jawline. Others are softer and ideal for delicate areas like the lips or under-eyes.

filler placement

Lips: Lips naturally thin with age, and adding volume creates a youthful, hydrated appearance.

Nasolabial Folds (Smile Lines): Loss of collagen and fat deepens these folds, making the face look aged or tired.

Cheeks: The midface loses fat pads and structure over time, leading to a flat or hollow appearance.

Tear Troughs: Volume loss under the eyes can create a tired or older appearance.

Marionette Lines: Aging causes volume loss and skin laxity, leading to lines and droopiness at the mouth corners.

Chin: A weak or recessed chin can disrupt facial balance, and projection improves overall harmony.

Jawline: Sagging and loss of definition in the jawline are common signs of aging.

Necklines: Repetitive motions, like looking down at devices, contribute to horizontal neck wrinkles.

Why Choose Flight for Fillers?

At Flight Aesthetics, we take a “less is more” approach to fillers,
favoring buildable treatments over full-face filler in a single session.

What’s Bothering You May Not Be the Area That Needs Treatment

One of the biggest surprises for many clients is that the area of concern isn’t always the area that needs filler. For example:

  • Tired-looking eyes? The issue may not be under-eye hollows—it could be volume loss in the cheeks that causes the midface to appear sunken and shadowed. Adding subtle cheek filler lifts and brightens the eyes without needing direct filler under the eyes.
  • Fine lines around the mouth? These are often caused by volume loss in the cheeks or lips, rather than the lines themselves needing filler. Restoring balance in these areas smooths the lower face naturally.
  • Weak jawline? Enhancing the chin and cheeks can create a more defined, structured profile without over-filling the jaw itself.

How to Prepare

Before receiving dermal filler injections at Flight Aesthetics + Salon in Oxford, Mississippi, you’ll have a comprehensive consultation with Robyn, our owner and skilled nurse practitioner.

During this consultation, we will discuss your aesthetic goals, medical history and any concerns you may have. It’s important to inform us of any medications or supplements you’re taking, as certain substances increase the risk of bruising.

For at least one week before your treatment, avoid medications and supplements that can thin your blood and increase the risk of bruising. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil and certain herbal supplements. Always consult with your healthcare provider before stopping any prescribed medications,

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment – and stay hydrated to ensure perfect results from your procedure!

On the day of you treatment, come with a clean face free of makeup. Together, we will carefully assess your facial anatomy to determine the best injection sites and dosage to achieve natural-looking results.

What to expect (after)

After your filler treatment, you can expect some downtime. Arrange your schedule to allow for some downtime after the procedure, as you may experience mild swelling or bruising. It’s best to avoid scheduling important events or photoshoots immediately after your treatment.

Results generally begin to appear immediately, with full effects visible at around 2 weeks to a month. To maintain your refreshed appearance, follow-up treatments are usually recommended annually.  However, there are a few guidelines to follow to ensure optimal results.

  • Avoid Touching or Massaging the Treated Areas: Refrain from touching, pressing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 24-48 hours to prevent the filler from shifting.
  • Skip Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous physical activities and exercise for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of increased swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid Excessive Heat and Sun Exposure: Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, and prolonged sun exposure for at least a week to prevent swelling and potential complications.
  • Don’t Consume Alcohol or Blood-Thinning Medications: Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize bruising.

Avoid Certain Skincare Treatments: Steer clear of facials, chemical peels, and other skin treatments for at least a week to allow the filler to settle properly.

 Our philosophy: Buildable, not overdone

At Flight Aesthetics, we take a “less is more” approach to fillers, favoring buildable treatments over full-face filler in a single session. Why? Rather than rushing into large-volume filler treatments, we take a conservative and artistic approach—enhancing your beauty over time instead of making drastic changes overnight.

  • Better, More Natural-Looking Results – Gradually enhancing volume and contour allows us to maintain harmony and proportion, ensuring you never look overfilled.
  • Safer & More Comfortable – Spacing treatments out reduces swelling, minimizes product migration, and allows us to fine-tune your results with precision.
  • Long-Term Facial Balance – Your face is constantly evolving, and a step-by-step approach helps us adjust along the way for the most natural, youthful appearance.

Frequently asked questions

When administered by experienced professionals, dermal fillers provide natural-looking results. Skilled practitioners tailor the treatment to enhance your features subtly, ensuring you look refreshed rather than “overdone.”

Dermal fillers are suitable for adults of all ages. Younger individuals use fillers for enhancing features like lips and cheeks, while older individuals often seek fillers to address volume loss and wrinkles.

Most dermal filler procedures involve minimal discomfort. Many fillers contain a numbing agent, and topical anesthetics can be used to ensure a comfortable experience.

Dermal fillers are temporary and typically last from six months to two years, depending on the type of filler and the treatment area. This allows flexibility to adjust treatments over time.

Recovery from dermal filler treatments is usually quick. Most people return to their normal activities immediately, though some may experience minor swelling or bruising for a few days.

Dermal fillers are becoming increasingly popular among men. Many men seek fillers to enhance their features and maintain a youthful appearance, just like women.
